RIT Resources for New Faculty
(THE) UNIVERSITY STUDIES PROGRAM
University Studies allows first and second year students an opportunity to explore multiple majors that span across two or more of the RIT colleges, prior to choosing a program of study. Students new to RIT, or current students who make an internal transfer into University Studies, should be academically strong and curious students with interests in a variety of programs at RIT. Students work with an academic advisor to explore their career interests, values, and goals in order to make an informed decision regarding a major at RIT.
University Studies offers students the following benefits:
- The opportunity to explore RIT and its programs in greater detail before selecting a program of study
- A focus on core liberal arts and science courses that will meet requirements across most RIT majors
- An opportunity to sample coursework in a variety of majors of interest
- Personalized academic advising that also focuses on career exploration and personal development
- A blend of guided and self-discovery exercises designed to develop academic and career objectives
