Center for Women and Gender
The Center for Women and Gender provides information, programming, support and advocacy to address a wide variety of issues. Many of our services and programs serve the entire female and male RIT community. Some of our services include:
CARES: Campus, Advocacy, Response and Support – a 24-hour comprehensive service for community members involved with sexual assault, relationship violence, sexual harassment and stalking. Call 585-295-3533 (voice and text), contact the Center for Women and Gender, or go to the link on the Center for Women and Gender webpage to access this service.
Services to individual students address relationship issues, sexuality issues, pregnancy, body image issues, harassment and discrimination, and sexual assault.
Programs address issues including Healthy Relationships; Eating and Body Image; Gender, Communication and Respect; Pornography; Men’s workshops.
The Center for Women and Gender may be called upon to make presentations to your classes. Consider contacting us rather than cancel class when you are out of town or unable to teach one day.
The Center for Women and Gender has an active student Advisory Board. The Center sponsors a number of campus wide events including the Lighting the Way ceremony to welcome new women to campus; The Women’s Career Achievement Dinner; The Vagina Monologues; and Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day.
