RIT Kosovo and The National Gallery in Kosovo (Galeria e Arteve e Kosoves) are hosting a unique exhibition that celebrates a lost regional alphabet. “Unearthing a Lost Alphabet,” will debut in an opening reception at 6 p.m. Friday, December 1, at The National Gallery in Kosovo. Through his thesis work, RIT Kosovo alumnus, Edon Muhaxheri, revived an almost forgotten Albanian alphabet and has been making headlines around the design world. It was announced that the National Gallery in Albania will be the permanent home of the work and the automaton that creates the letters.
Muhaxheri recently finished an MFA in illustration at the Maryland Institute College of Art on the Fulbright Foreign Student Program—and has been invited to stay an additional year to teach at MICA.
