Schoen Place is a canal landing — with ample restaurants and retail options — located on the north side of the Erie Canal in the Rochester suburb of Pittsford. The portion coming through Pittsford was completed in 1822.

The Sam Patch, a replica of a 19th-century packet boat, was positioned in the foreground of the photo while models dressed in period costumes posed along the deck.
