Gannett Hall is home to RIT’s renowned School of Photographic Arts and Sciences, a founding sponsor of The Big Shot. The five-story building also houses the School of Film and Animation and Image Permanence Institute.

The building’s namesake was a newspaper proprietor who founded the Empire State School of Printing in Ithaca, N.Y., which later moved to RIT in 1937. Gannett then served as an RIT trustee from 1938-57.
