The Ontario County Courthouse is site of the famous 1873 trial, The United States v. Susan B. Anthony, who was arrested in Rochester for voting in the 1872 elections.
The courthouse is a contributing property to the Canandaigua Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
