Mentorship Program for High School Students

The WIE Mentorship Program is designed to inspire and guide high school girls interested in pursuing careers in STEM. Through this initiative, we connect them with current university students who offer support, share experiences, and provide valuable insights into the world of STEM. Our goal is to empower young girls, help them navigate their academic paths, and encourage them to confidently pursue their passions in engineering and technology. This program fosters a nurturing environment where high school students can ask questions, gain advice, and feel more prepared for their future in STEM.

WIE Passport

The WIE Passport Initiative is a fun and creative way for our members to track their journey with Women in Engineering. Each participant receives a handmade passport, and for every event they attend, they earn a custom-designed handmade sticker to add to their collection. These passports not only serve as a personalized keepsake but also as a visual reminder of the milestones and memories made throughout their time with WIE. It's a unique way to celebrate their growth, involvement, and experiences within our community.

Technical Workshops on Arduino, CAD, and 3D Printing

Our technical workshops are designed to provide hands-on learning experiences, equipping participants with essential skills in various engineering fields. So far, we have hosted three successful workshops:

  • Arduino and Wiring for LEDs and Servo Motors: Participants learned the basics of Arduino programming and wiring, gaining practical experience in controlling LEDs and servo motors for real-world applications.
  • CAD Workshop: This session introduced students to Autodesk Inventor, covering key concepts such as 2D sketching, extrusions, complex modeling, and features like filleting. Attendees mastered the tools necessary for designing intricate components and assemblies.
  • 3D Printing Workshop: Participants were guided through the entire 3D printing process, from designing a part and slicing it to converting file formats and setting up the printer. Each participant had the opportunity to print their own designs and take them home.

These workshops have allowed students from various majors to enhance their technical skills and bring their ideas to life.
