Accomplishments from Saunders Students

    • Jacob Statman ‘25 (accounting) has been selected as a Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) Scholar and will receive a scholarship in the amount of $15,000 for the 2025-2026 academic year

    Saunders Faculty and Staff Go Above and Beyond

    • Quang Neo Bui, associate professor in the department of MIS, marketing, and analytics, along with three co-authors, has published an article, “Survival of the fittest through digital transformation: Turning the board’s digital awareness to action, ” in Information Systems Journal. The article explores the strategic imperative of board member preparedness in leading the way in the digital transformation process.

    • Jancy Nightingale-Burch ‘25 (MBA), assistant director of marketing, Saunders executive education, presented her economics independent study, “The non-profit church: Financial and community pressures in an era of uncertainty, ” establishing the groundwork for a strategic, long-term evaluation on the economic role of non-profits in the Greater Rochester region.

    • Allan Ulrich, CPA, EMBA, adjunct professor in the Executive MBA program, was honored by the Marquis Who's Who organization for his expertise in finance and accounting.

    • Philip Gelsomino, MS, senior lecturer in the department of finance and accounting, accompanied a group of RIT students and their families on a cruise out of Brooklyn, NY, to the Bahamas, in March, 2025.

    • Congratulations to Saunders faculty for achieving “Top 20” status for Google Scholar Citations of their research:  John Tu, senior associate dean, 12,000; Mike Palanski, professor in the department of management: 6,000; Hao Zhang, professor in the department of finance and accounting: 6,000,Clyde Hull, professor in the department of management: 5,000; Jerrie Hsieh, professor in the department of international hospitality and service innovation: 2,000; Manlu Liu, professor in the department of MIS, marketing, and analytics: 2,000; Emi Moriuchi, associate professor in the department of MIS, marketing, and analytics: 2,000; Ettore Spadafora, associate professor in the department of management: 1,000; Malar Hirudayaraj, associate professor in the department of management: 1,000.

    • Jesse Redlo, Ed.D., program manager for the Executive MBA program and adjunct professor, has been recognized as a thought leader in higher education by the Marquis Who's Who organization.

    • Krista Vardabash ‘12 (EMBA) joined the department of Executive Education as an adjunct professor on January 6, 2025.

    • Quang “Neo” Bui, associate professor in the department of MIS, marketing, and analytics, has been awarded a Fulbright-University of Vaasa Scholar Award. The prestigious award is administered through the U.S. Department of State and jointly funded by the Fulbright Finland Foundation and the University of Vaasa. Bui will study cybersecurity in Vassa, Finland.

    Alumni News and Recognitions

    • Ryan Baldwin ‘15 (accounting) has been honored by Water for South Sudan, where he is treasurer on their Board of Directors, with a well in his name.

    • Lauren Henry, '06 (business management) was recently recognized as a Woman of Distinction by Assemblyman Harry Bronson for her work with the Neighborhood of the Arts Business Association (NOTABA). In her position as Vice President, she has helped NOTABA grow exponentially, recruiting members, launching a new website, and maintaining a digital presence to highlight one of Rochester’s most creative neighborhoods.

    • William (Bill) Buckingham, chair emeritus of RIT’s Board of Trustees and a 1964 graduate of the business administration program in the Saunders College of Business, died May 17. He was 82. Buckingham joined RIT’s Board of Trustees in 1979, served as its first alumnus chairman from 1997 to 2002, and was elected Trustee Emeritus in 2020 for his lifetime of commitment to RIT.

    News

    • RIT receives $11.1 million gift from late alumnus and spouse
      RIT has received a gift of $11.1 million through the estate of late alumnus and former trustee Henry Navas and his late wife, Deborah Robbins. Included is a gift of $4.8 million to RIT’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf, the largest gift in its history. Navas, who died in 2022, earned an MBA in 1974 and a master’s degree in accounting in 1977 from Saunders College of Business.

    • RIT names three new members to university board
      Human resources executive Jane Elliott ’88 (accounting), physician Brenda Haynes, and entrepreneur Chance Wright ’18 (photographic and imaging arts) ’19 (MBA) have been named to RIT’s Board of Trustees.

    • RIT’s Saunders College of Business Earns AACSB Reaccreditation
      Saunders College of Business has once again earned reaccreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB),  the premier accrediting organization for business schools. RIT is one of approximately 5 percent of institutions worldwide to maintain this level of accreditation worldwide.

    • The 21st annual Sharpen the Saw occurred June 2, 2025-June 3, 2025 featuring a golf outing, followed by the campus speaker series with keynotes from Peter S. Goodman, global economic correspondent for The New York Times, and Christina Gullo '06 (EMBA) co-founder of True North Executive Solutions. See photos here. 

    • On June 10, Saunders College of Business proudly hosted the Vanden Brul Entrepreneurial Awards Ceremony & Luncheon! The event brought together business leaders, students, alumni, and faculty, and staff to celebrate innovation, leadership, and the entrepreneurial spirit that continues to drive our community forward.
