Dr. Jayanti Venkataraman, received the 2001-02 Eisenhart Award for Outstanding Teaching from the Rochester Institute of Technology. The award was presented to her by Dr. Stan McKenzie, Provost, during RIT's Convocation Ceremony on May 24, 2002.
This prestigious award, established in 1965 by the Eisenhart family, recognizes faculty excellence. Winners are chosen through a rigorous peer review of student nominations. The late M. Herbert Eisenhart, chairman and president of Bausch & Lomb Inc., was an RIT trustee for more than 50 years. Richard Eisenhart, trustee emeritus and past chairman of RIT's board of trustees, has served on the board since 1972.
"It's quite an honor to be recognized," says Venkataraman, completing her 20th year at RIT. She received B.S. and M.S. degrees from Bangalore University and a Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Science. Her specialties include Electromagnetics, Microwave and Antenna Engineering."Jayanti has committed her career to serving her students," says Robert Bowman, Professor and Department Head of Electrical Engineering at RIT. "This award is justly deserved and represents the appropriate accolade for a truly outstanding teacher."
Dr. Jayanti Venkataraman is the recipient of the "2007 IEEE Region 1 award for establishing a unique educational experience in the area of Electromagnetics, Microwaves and Antennas".
Region 1 comprises of the Northeastern states NY, NJ, CT, MA, RI, VT, NH, ME.
