Mechanics of Materials Lab Location: 2259 Gleason Description/Projects:
Mechanics of Materials Lab experiments utilize several different types of testing equipment including: Tensile Testers to determine material properties such as the Modulus of Elasticity and the Yield Strength of a material. Torsional Test equipment is used to determine the material properties of common engineering materials when subjected to a shear stress. Data Acquisition systems utilizing Lab View are integrated with each lab experience.
The Mechanics of Materials Lab experiments
illustrate the mechanical behavior of common engineering materials and
their response to axial, torsional and
Students who use this lab continue on with careers in Automotive, Aerospace, Electronics, Military, Optics, and Telecommunications among many other industries
