Director of Business Development, College of Engineering
Dr. Sudit attended Purdue University, School of Industrial Engineering, from 1983 - 1988. He graduated with a Ph.D. Doctorate in Operations Research and his dissertation title was Paroids :A Generic Environment for Local Search. In 1983, Dr. Sudit earned a Master of Science in Operations Research from Stanford University and in 1982 earned a B.S. Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.
In 2001, Dr. Sudit was appointed Director of Business Development for Multidisciplinary Programs for RIT's Kate Gleason College of Engineering. As Director of Business Development, Dr. Sudit is responsible for developing relationships with industry and government agencies in obtaining educational and research opportunities for the faculty of the college of engineering. He also assists in creating a multidisciplinary environment for seniors (through senior design projects) as well as graduate students.
In addition to his Director role, Dr. Sudit is a Visiting Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at RIT. Dr. Sudit teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in operations research (including integer, linear, nonlinear, systems optimization and heuristic optimization) as well as artificial intelligence. Dr. Sudit is conducting research and advising graduate students in the theory and applications of Discrete Optimization. More specifically, designing and analyzing exact and approximate (heuristic) procedures to solve large-scale engineering and management problems. Some of the applications include: sensor networks, supply chain, unmanned aerial vehicles and distributed decision making.
Prior to arriving at RIT, Dr. Sudit held several positions in the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Buffalo including Adjunct Associate Professor, Adjunct Assistant Professor, and Assistant Professor. Dr. Sudit taught undergraduate and graduate courses in operations research (including integer, linear, and heuristic optimization) as well as artificial intelligence.
Dr. Sudit's private appointments include Vice President for Veridian Engineering (now General Dynamics), President of Datumtech Corporation, and Executive Vice President at Datumtech.
