Dr. Brian K. Thorn is an Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at RIT. He joined the department in 1986. He holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from RIT and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Dr. Thorn's primary teaching areas include Environmentally Conscious Manufacturing, Applied Statistical Analysis, Quality Control, and Computer Methods. His current research interests include Sustainable Product Design and Manufacture, Product Remanufacturing, and Applied Statistical Methods. Professionall memberships include the Institute for Industrial Engineers and the American Society for Engineering Education.
Dr. Thorn has extensive consulting experience with industry in the areas of remanufacturing, experimental design, statistical analysis, quality control, process design, reliability analysis, and simulation. His clients have included manufacturing organizations such as Eastman Kodak, Xerox, and Bausch and Lomb, as well as service organizations such as Saatchi & Saatchi and Wegman's.
