Electrical Engineering
“I was chairman of RIT’s student chapter of the Institute
of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) from 2001 to 2002. The IEEE
is an international professional engineering society devoted to enhancing
the careers of engineers around the world. Our chapter promotes the goals
of the IEEE at the university level and provides a link to professional
engineers working in industry. We sponsor technical presentations and
employment recruiting opportunities with some of the top employers in
industry today. We are also involved in multi-university activities and
community outreach programs for students at local high schools.
My experiences in the IEEE helped me to gain leadership and networking
skills that complemented my RIT engineering education. I would recommend
RIT clubs and professional societies to students who want to expand their
knowledge of a particular industry or build a network of professional
contacts.”
