Industrial & Systems Engineering ”I moved to Rochester from my home in Mexico City, so long-distance travel is not something new to me. But I was still amazed to have the opportunity to travel as a part of a co-op job. I was flown across the Atlantic Ocean to work in Barcelona, Spain, for the first three weeks of my co-op job at Business Performance Engineers, an engineering consulting company. “Acquiring experience through co-op and actually getting paid sounded great to me when I was looking into colleges. For college students in Mexico, if you find a job in your field, it is only for a short time, and you usually don’t get paid. The experience you gain on the job is considered your paycheck. “My co-op at Business Performance Engineers, beyond the highlight of a weekly paycheck, offered me an excellent opportunity to do some real consulting work and to learn how people think and perform in different environments and cultures. My ultimate career goal is to run my own international engineering consulting company and travel around the world.”
