    Apprenticeship experience through AEOP puts high school student in quantum physics research at Miami University in Ohio

    A program supported by Rochester Institute of Technology’s K-12 University Center is providing an Ohio high school student with the chance to work alongside professional researchers, and undergrad and graduate students to help bolster his exposure in physics. The summer apprenticeship opportunity through the Army Educational Outreach Program is administered by RIT K-12 on behalf of the U.S. Army, and provides paid internship-like experiences in science, technology, engineering and math for high school through postdoctoral individuals at Army labs and partner universities across the country.

    RIT names Prabu David as provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs

    RIT has named Prabu David as its new provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs, which is the university’s top academic officer. David, who has served as vice provost for faculty and academic staff development, interim vice provost for Teaching and Learning Innovation, and dean of the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University, joins RIT on Aug. 1.

    STEP scholar presents at Genius Olympiad

    Alexia Savage, a STEP scholar from Rush-Henrietta, has an academic resume that trumps many adults’. Just from this year’s Terra Fair, the 16-year-old high school junior walked away with seven awards, honors and other recognitions that also helped punch her ticket to present at Genius Olympiad -- an international science fair hosted by RIT.

    RIT master’s students learn lessons from Swedish health system

    Graduate students in RIT’s health systems management program are learning this week about how the industry works in Sweden from health care administrators and practitioners. The eight-day study-abroad course, Health Systems Analysis and Innovation, gives students insights into a different health care model and the nuanced reasons it works well for the Swedish culture.
