Staff Council Contributions to RIT Governance

  • Pedestrian safety task force
    President Destler formed the Pedestrian Safety Task Force as a result of Staff Council constituent concerns regarding use of bikes and longboards on the Quarter Mile.
  • Accelerated implementation of smoking policy
    Staff Council worked with other governance groups including Academic Senate and Student Government to eliminate the 3-year waiting period for implementation proposed in the revised version of C 16.0 Tobacco-Restricted University Policy.

Staff Achievements

Rebekah Walker, RIT’s digital humanities and social sciences librarian, received a scholarship to attend the Digital Humanities Summer Institute in Vancouver in June.

Congratulations to Sara May, marketing and communications manager for RIT Libraries, who was awarded a PR Xchange Award by the Library Leadership & Management Association, which recognizes the best public relations materials produced by libraries in the past year.

Susan Mee, Cheryl Herdklotz, and Anne Marie Canale recently presented at the 18th Distance Library Services Conference (DLSC) in San Antonio, Texas.
