Note: Brian Thomas BFA ’96 is a former runner for RIT’s Cross Country and Track Teams. Recently, Brian qualified for The National Duathlon Championships. A few years ago, Brian qualified for the World Duathlon Championships in Spain. Brian has been ranked between #1 and 2 in Brian’s age group and state.

Note: Dr. Jeffrey Henstenburg BS ’14 recently accepted a new position as an assistant professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He will be taking over as their new pediatric spine surgeon, tackling complex scoliosis and other pediatric spine conditions.

Note: Larry Schorr BS ’73 was a concert photographer in the San Francisco Bay Area during the 1970s and has been working on getting photos to people who could use them. This book called, To Hell With Poverty, by Jon King, singer for Gang of Four, was just released in April 2025, and Jon King used a photo Larry took in 1979, when Gang of Four was supporting Buzzcocks in San Francisco.

Name: Liza Savage-Katz

Note: Liza Savage-Katz BFA ’97 is celebrating a year of meaningful growth and community impact. As founder of KaleidoscopeME® (www.kaleidoscopeme.org), she launched and expanded whole-child afterschool enrichment programs across multiple Rochester charter schools, secured over $400,000 in grant funding, and forged dynamic partnerships with organizations like the Rochester Museum & Science Center, Mindful Tradition, and Bowen Family Farm. Liza also serves as an adjunct professor at RIT, mentoring students at the intersection of design, wellness, and education. Her nonprofit is now collaborating and developing a research study with U of R faculty (and hopefully RIT) and expanding summer programs across the region. She recently launched Alwāni Nefesh (Colors of the Soul), a storytelling and healing arts initiative inspired by Jewish and Arabic roots, exploring trauma-informed education and inter-generational healing.
