Cody’s Farewell Family Dinner off to RIT Fall 2018

Note: Catherine Spilman Lane ’85 (FAA) and Brett Lane ’82 (CAST) are proud to have a double legacy student son: Cody T Lane ’20 attending RIT in the College of Art and Design Industrial Design BFA program, following his mom’s footsteps in the Booth Building at RIT. They are very excited and proud of Cody’s accomplishments!

Name: Anna Craig

Note: William Craig BS/MS ’14 (KGCOE) successfully completed his Ph.D. in aerospace engineering at the University of Maryland in June of 2019. During his Ph.D. program, his wife, Anna (Guthrie) Craig ’13 (CHST) worked as a hospital physician assistant at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Maryland. They moved to Boston this summer where Dr. Craig began work at the Charles Stark Draper Laboratory. Mrs. Craig has just started her new job at Boston Medical Center’s gastroenterology clinic and has been appointed faculty at Boston University School of Medicine.

Note: On November 18 2019, Jeffrey Wilkins ’90 (KGCOE) will start a new segment of my career with Collins Aerospace in Fairfield, CA as the Site Senior Quality Manager. This is after spending 19 years in the semiconductor industry with Lam Research and then Comet Technologies.

Sherry Taylor Miller (BS-PM 77) Celebrating Retirement party with my daughter, Samantha.

Name: Sherry Miller

Note: After completing a BS in Printing Management in 1977, Sherry Miller ’77 (GAP) worked for 26 years at Moore Business Forms Research Center Grand Island, NY where she project managed print quality testing, product development, government standards and launched the company’s first intranet. Sherry retooled her skills by achieving a Certification in Project Management (PMP) in 2003 and joined HSBC Bank Information Technology Services. Between 2004 and 2018, she managed projects, refreshing online banking services and mobile devices for the bank. Sherry retired at the end of a big software launch in 2018 to volunteering. She is President-Elect to the Grand Island Rotary Club and launched a 4-H Club to service children in the community, which includes my granddaughter, Kinsey. Her husband, Dennis B. Miller ’76 (GAP), MS ’77 (GAP) (BS-Photo 76, MS-Print Tech 77), whom she married in 1998 passed away in 2017. Sherry writes "Thank you to RIT for helping me obtain the foundation for her career!"

Tigers reunited!

Note: Patrick Seypura ’16 (SCB) and Sophie Phillips ’16 (CIAS) were married on June 22nd, 2019 in Tarrytown, N.Y. After meeting during their freshmen orientation, Sophie and Patrick quickly became best friends, and later, fell in love. Their celebration was made even more special by those of their RIT family in their wedding party- Christina Rizzetta ’16 (SOIS), Kelly Jo Hill ’17 (SCB), Alex Saunders ’17 (CHST), Justin Simmons ’17 (CAST), & Matt Ballerini ’16(KGCOE) - and all those who surrounded them and came all the way they did!

Timothy J Cosgriff ’96 Artwork in two Rochester Exhibitions

Name: Timothy Cosgriff

Note: Timothy J. Cosgriff MS ’96 (CAST) has work in the Sweet Creations Exhibition at the George Eastman Museum. His work, "Le Voyage Dans la Lun, Possible!" ss a celebration of the work of Georges M’s and the 50th anniversary of the Apollo moon landing. The work further celebrates the Museum’s work in film preservation. The gingerbread creation features French explorers with spats, top hats, and umbrellas. Lunar inhabitants, the Selenites, join the explorers. The moon landscape features falling snow and pyrotechnics. Umbrellas that turn into magic mushrooms join the space ship. For the background, Cosgriff features his photographic work, a Lomography Fish Eye image shot on Black and White Film. The free shot image is the Canandaigua Sky taken off a dock in the lake. The exhibit runs until December 15, 2019. Cosgriff’s work is one that will remain on display until January 1, 2020, at the request of Kathy Connor at the Museum. Cosgriff has exhibited in Sweet Creations Exhibit for more than ten years. Cosgriff also has work in the International Art of the Book at the Central Library of Rochester and Monroe County. His work, Young Frankenstein Steampunk Bookends is an altered book creation. Discarded books, found objects and discarded hardware are the mediums used in this creation. The exhibit will run from 12/4/2019-02/01/2020. This is the third time Cosgriff has exhibited in the International Art of the Book. Previously, Cosgriff was a judge of the exhibit.

Note: William (Bill) Truran ’75 (GAP) writes he is grateful to be still shooting full time as a food photographer even though he is 65. Bill is grateful because he have always loved what he have done. There is nothing better than making money with a camera. All of his clients have become friends so shooting is not only fun, but the comradery is wonderful and his friends send him money in exchange for images. Thank you RIT. You helped get him where he is today. Fifteen years with studios in NYC, 15 years within Nabisco and Kraft Foods and 15+ back on his own. It has been and still is great! It was great to meet Dr. Tood S. Jokl at the Photo show RIT meet-up. Go go go photo students!

Note: Retired CIAS Professor Bob Chung MS ’76 (GAP) visited David (Dave) Price MS ’80 (GAP) in summer, 2019. Both earned M.S. degrees together from the School of Printing. They also lived near each other at Perkins Green and shared baby equipment for their firstborn.
