John Edward Costigan

John Costigan (1888-1972) is best known as a landscape and figure painter, and his work often featured pastoral scenes of everyday life on farms in Upstate New York. Costigan also created many etchings of similar subjects, using techniques learned during his brief career as a lithographer of theater posters. His most fruitful period was the 1920s, when he won numerous prizes for his paintings.
