Russell Theodore Limbach

Known best for his delightful, satirical art, Russell Theodore Limbach (1904-1971) was a key figure for art in the Works Progress Administration during the years of the Great Depression. Limbach was one of two Cleveland printmakers commissioned by the Public Works of Art Project in 1934.He moved to New York in 1935 to assume the post of technical advisor for the W.P.A. Graphics Workshop, where he continued to serve until 1940. In 1941, he moved to Middletown, CT and joined the faculty of Wesleyan University
