Gallery r is pleased to present two projects by Rochester area artists and RIT Alumni Cory Fitzgerald, Nick Marshall, and Cecily Culver. In Neutral is an experimental installation of photography and video derived from processes of washing and staining, creating and erasing, idling and moving. Culver, whose solo show New Sense gathered acclaim in 2015, returns with a special window installation called Interloper; combining taxidermy and robotics.

Gallery r presents “Wear Orange: Art to Action” – an exhibition highlighting National Gun Violence Awareness Month. The show includes The Mother’s Dream Quilt Project, crafted by communities remembering victims of gun violence; memorials for the victims of the Pulse Orlando Shootings created by the Rochester Gay Alliance; and It Takes Us, a photo series sharing stories of survivors by New York artist Joe Quint. Other events will occur in Rochester and beyond on June 2 as part of National Gun Violence Awareness Day. #wearorange

Gallery r presents the Senior Illustration Exhibition, featuring capstone projects by students in the RIT School of Art’s Illustration program, which prepares students for a variety of careers within the visual communications field, including advertising, publishing, editorial, gaming and entertainment industries.

Gallery r presents the student-run exhibition and publication release of Draft 14, which for the past thirteen years has featured the work of photography students at Rochester Institute of Technology. Last year, Draft 13 introduced the work of students across NYS. This year, Draft 14 presents the work of 22 artists from schools throughout New York State including RIT, Syracuse, School of Visual Arts, SUNY Purchase, SUNY Plattsburgh and the University at Buffalo.

Gallery r is pleased to present Leap Into the Dark: a show of recent work by Rochester area artists Bradley Butler and Mitchell Messina. Butler’s paintings evoke surreal, subconscious landscapes inspired by traditions of abstract expressionism in both small and large scale canvases. Messina’s work, while using a traditional material like clay, presents figurative sculpture to address the paradoxes of human communication in a contemporary age.

Gallery r presents William Snyder – Picturing The Who — on view February 3-25, 2017.  Capturing a performance by this legendary band is no easy task, but it’s something that four-time Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer William Snyder has been doing since 1981. Focusing on a recent concert at the Staples Center in Los Angeles in May 2016, this exhibition further immortalizes The Who’s long career as rock and roll legends.
