Landscapes Reimagined: Exploring Nature, City, and Imagination

This project investigates three interpretations of landscape—natural, urban, and invented—through color, texture, and composition. Each piece was created on A2 paper using pastels, watercolor, and colored pencils to convey atmosphere, depth, and mood. The work emphasizes layering, tonal balance, and spatial relationships, blending careful observation with imaginative expression to capture the essence of different environments and their emotional impact. The result is a cohesive series that transforms diverse landscapes into engaging visual experiences.

These watercolor pieces reflect my favorite place, Los Angeles, through two moments that feel personal and familiar. The first drawing captures the Santa Monica pier at sunset, with the ferris wheel glowing against a dramatic orange and grey sky. The dark shoreline and soft fading light show that quiet shift between day and night the city does so well. The second scene shows the walk down to a beach in Laguna, with tall palms, warm sand, and the ocean stretching out under pastel evening colors. A girl stands on the steps looking toward the water, echoing that calm, nostalgic feeling LA always gives me.
