Openings

We invite applications for multiple Ph.D. student assistantship in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) starting immediately in Fall 2023 or spring 2024. The successful applicants will conduct research in the areas computational fluid dynamics (CFD), multiphysics modeling, flow sensing, bio-locomotion and biomedical engineering, with particular emphasis on the integration of advanced machine learning algorithms and CFD. They will receive financial support for full tuition fee and living expense. The financial funding is from multiple research projects funded by NSF and NIH.  

Required:

  • BS or MS degree in fluid mechanics, applied mathematics and physics, or related areas.
  • Good knowledge of fluid mechanics, mathematics and good problem-solving skills.
  • Good modeling and simulation skills.
  • Good writing and communication skills in English.

Preferred: 

  • Good programming skills in Fortran and C++.
  • Previous experience in computational fluid dynamics and machine learning.
