Meet 3D Design Assistant Xinxin Li
Xinxin Li
Xinxin Li is IPI’s new 3D Design Assistant working under the supervision of Meredith Noyes, Research Scientist, as part of the IMLS-funded project Foundational Research to Inform Preservation Guidelines for the Creation, Collection, and Consumption of 3D Printed Objects in Museums. Xinxin is a MFA candidate in Industrial Design at RIT and comes to IPI after receiving her BFA in Industrial Design from Savannah College of Art and Design. Xinxin is passionate about solving everyday problems through design in a way that sparks joy. She brings a wealth of experience in CAD modeling, rendering, and 3D printing, and she will play a crucial role in the design and printing of a research collection of 3D-printed objects. The research collection created will be used for material studies and enhance our understanding of the diversity of 3D printed materials and processes found in collecting institutions.
Xinxin notes, “I am always passionate about discovering new knowledge. During this project, I have the opportunity to research 3D printing, material studies in the printing filament consideration, and design in building up good printing parts. Working at IPI is an excellent learning process during my study path, and I look forward to seeing the outcomes of working with my team at IPI.”
