
Surya Kamal, Ph.D.
Surya is an alumnus of the Ph.D. program in Imaging Science and the M.S. program in Physics at RIT. He is currently a Research Scientist (Researcher / Engineer I) at RIT and divides his time between the NanoImaging Lab and the Integrated Photonics Group (Dr. Stefan Preble).
Before joining RIT, Surya worked as a project associate at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, and as an intern at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai. He earned his bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Pune, India, in 2016. Surya served as the President of the SPIE-Optica student chapter at RIT and was the Regional Liaison for the Microscopy Society of America from 2020 to 2022. He is actively engaged in organizing events focused on optics and microscopy education and outreach.
