BECOMING HARRY: A Protactile Play
You are invited to step into the role of Harry Potter and embark on a quest for self-discovery and connection in this magical PT adaptation of a contemporary classic for all ages. Join Hagrid, Ron, and Minerva McGonagall as they share a universal message about belonging, accepting who you are, and finding community.
Prepare to be blindfolded for total immersion in PT space where you will engage in hands on experiences including:
• Co-navigating scenes with tactile landmarks
• Feeling tactile impressions of characters and objects through features such as texture, shape, temperature and weight
• Sharing contact space as PT expressions are produced through bodily contacts
• Feeling tactile special effects and sleight of hand
Meet the Cast
• Hagrid: He and his animal companions equip you with tools and lessons for the journey ahead.
o Hagrid is played by Jaz (Jason) Herbers, a PT trainer from Cincinnati, Ohio, acting in his second theatrical role.
• Ron: A true friend who offers companionship, humor, and cheery confidence in you as you co-navigate along the way.
o Ron is played by Lesley Silva-Kopec, a PT trainer from New York City excited to make her acting debut.
• Minerva McGonagall: Wise and warm, she encourages exploration and experimentation so you can fly to new heights.
o McGonagall is played by Jelica Nuccio, founder of Tactile Communication in Oregon, and Research Consultant with the Protactile Network at the University of Chicago, currently researching tactile impressions and multimodal knowledge production.
