Guiding Principles

Our guiding principles emerged from in-depth conversations across the RIT community, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, trustees, friends, and partners. They are the foundation of our Strategic Framework and the compass that keeps us moving in the right direction.

These principles define who we are and how we lead. They shape decisions, set priorities, and keep us focused on what matters most. They remind us that our work is about more than plans—it’s about people and purpose.

Grounded in these principles, we commit to empowering our community, educating the whole student, advancing research that improves lives, acting with integrity, and being agile and accountable as we move forward. This is how we will turn vision into action, and ambition into advantage while staying accountable to who we are.
