Accounting Jeopardy

Location

Max Lowenthall Hall - 1135

Activity Overview: Setup: The Jeopardy game will be hosted on a laptop and overseen by a dedicated RIT student, faculty, or staff. Another member will manage answers given by participants and track the points earned throughout the game. Location: We would set up in Max Lowenthal Hall, leveraging a space equipped with monitors and speakers to enhance the overall experience. Upon consideration of the available rooms, Room LOW-1135 would be a good option for hosting the event. Instruction: Many participants are familiar with Jeopardy, however, we plan to provide a brief introduction and overview of the rules before allowing participants to participate in the challenge. Challenge: Participants will select a column corresponding to an accounting topic and a row indicating a specific point value. Upon successfully answering the question, participants will accumulate points equivalent to the designated row value. Completion: It will be up to each participant to earn as many points as they can by answering questions across various categories. The Jeopardy game will be completed once the entire board has been cleared by the participants. Incentives: We plan to offer a variety of NGA and Saunder merchandise, ranging from pens, notepads, stickers, and more to participants who successfully earn a minimum of 500 points in the challenge. Educational Benefits: Critical Thinking Skills: Participants will be encouraged to analyze various accounting topics and apply their existing knowledge to formulate responses within a limited time frame. Application of Knowledge: Participants will have the opportunity to apply their accounting knowledge in a dynamic setting, fostering a better understanding of the application of various accounting concepts. Logistical Considerations: Equipment: A laptop will be required. This can be hosted by any member as long as they have access to Microsoft Powerpoint. We will also need access to the monitor and speakers with an HDMI cord or USB-C cable. Staffing: A minimum of two people will be needed to staff the exhibit to ensure members are able to keep up with the flow of traffic. Scheduling: Each member will be split into separate shifts based on their availability to provide a consistent and quality experience for all participants
