Schlieren Optical System Demonstration

Location

Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science - 1155

I am setting up a demonstration for the usage and photography created by the schlieren imaging system. This is a system that utilizes the change in light over a scene to image the first derivative of motion for that particular scene. Various demonstrations will be conducted, such as the changes produced by heavy airflow, a match (with approval), human body heat, etc. An explanation of the phenomenon will be provided, and audience participation encouraged. There will be a display of the image produced on the camera for easy viewing.
