Professor Wesam Almobaideen is a experienced academic and a leading expert in Cybersecurity and Computer Networking, particularly focusing on the intersection of Cybersecurity, Machine Learning, Blockchain, and the Internet of Things (IoT). He currently serves as a Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computing Sciences at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Dubai, where he previously coordinated computing programs, and also holds a professorship at the University of Jordan. He leads impactful research initiatives and guides a new generation of cybersecurity professionals.

Wesam earned his B.Sc. in Computer Science from Mu'tah University (Jordan) in 1997, followed by an M.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Jordan in 1999. He then obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Networks from the University of Bologna (Italy) in 2003, where his doctoral research focused on mobile agents and wireless networks. His extensive administrative experience includes roles as Department Chairperson, Computer Center Director, and Accreditation & Quality Assurance Director at the University of Jordan, alongside Dean's Assistant positions.

The core of Professor Almobaideen's research focuses on designing and verifying robust security mechanisms and authentication protocols for next-generation networked systems. This includes developing lightweight cryptographic algorithms for constrained IoT environments, exploring secure blockchain applications, and leveraging AI/ML for advanced intrusion detection and vulnerability analysis in complex networks. His lab is dedicated to practical, impact-driven research, with recent work addressing post-quantum cryptography implementation, mobile authentication in IoT, and smart contract security. Notably, he has directly mentored and supervised over 60 Master's and Ph.D. level students, guiding their contributions to these critical fields. His expertise is further solidified by professional certifications as an IBM Blockchain Developer, IBM AI Analyst, and IBM IoT Cloud Developer, alongside being a certified instructor from CISCO for both CCNA and Cybersecurity Professional certifications, reflecting a commitment to both theoretical rigor and real-world application.
