Sustainable Implementation of Continuous Improvement Recommendations
The KGCOE/Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate Curriculum Committee and faculty used the Student Learning Assessment Grant to organize ABET recommendations to inform progress, assess course impact and support continuous program improvement. The goal of the grant was to identify critical recommendations to improve student learning and teaching, and to assist faculty with documenting and implementing changes.
The project focused on developing comprehensive spreadsheets that allowed faculty to easily visualize and track recommendations providing a more efficient means of continuous improvement. Status options were developed (submitted, accepted, being vetted, implemented and not implemented) to organize, streamline and document the resolution to each recommendation. Moving forward, the spreadsheet system will also be utilized to monitor implementation as well as assist the curriculum committee in identifying concise, actionable improvements, and document progress toward the implementation of ABET recommendations.
