Mt. Hope Cemetery Historical Tour
Discover one of Rochester's most historic landmarks with a guided tour of Mount Hope Cemetery. This 90-minute walking tour covers approximately one mile along both paved roads and uneven terrain. Along the way, you'll visit the final resting places of notable Rochester figures, including Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass, while learning about the cemetery's rich history. The tour also explores local history, horticulture, geology, architecture, and the symbolism found throughout the grounds.
Transportation is not provided for this event. Please meet your tour guide at the North Gatehouse Entrance, located at 791 Mount Hope Avenue, Rochester, NY 14620.
Please note: The tour route is not limited to paved paths and includes uneven terrain. Comfortable walking shoes are strongly recommended; open-toed shoes are not advised. The tour will accommodate up to 60 participants, who will be divided into two groups with separate guides.
