Equipment

Okuma Genos M460-VE

The Okuma Genos M460-VE is a three-axis CNC milling machine. This machine, paired with its OSP-P300MA controller, is thermally stable, accurate, and rigid, and provides high productivity. The machine is used for many purposes here in Brinkman including but not limited to: ISEE 640 CAD/CAM class, Multidisciplinary Senior Design projects, small projects for the facilities group/shop jobs, and research within the ISE Department.

Okuma Genos L2000-e

The Okuma Genos L2000-e is a three-axis CNC turning machine. It features an integral spindle for powerful, high-precision CNC machining and it is stronger, smaller, and ideal for cutting a wide range of materials efficiently. This machine is used for many purposes including but not limited to: ISEE 640 CAD/CAM class, Multidisciplinary Senior Design projects, small facilities projects/shop jobs, and research within the ISE Department.

Hybrid DED Machine

The Hybrid DED (Directed Energy Deposition) machine is a custom 5-axis CNC milling machine that has been retrofitted with a 2kW laser that powers two metal deposition heads, one for powdered metal and one for wire. The machine can switch between additive and subtractive tools allowing hybrid additive subtractive workflows. This machine is used to research metal 3D printing.

Flow Waterjet

This machine is a high-powered water jet that can cut through many materials and thicknesses using a high-pressure stream of water and abrasive particles. It has the capacity to cut through up to 4 inches of steel. The machine is used in many different functions through the Brinkman Lab including but not limited to: Multidisciplinary Senior Design projects, classes, shop jobs, and research.

Swift Cut Plasma Cutter

This machine is a high-powered CNC plasma cutter. It has the capacity to cut through up to 1-1.25 inches of material. Similar to the water jet, it is used for a variety of tasks including Multidisciplinary Senior Design projects, classes, shop jobs, and research projects.

3D Printing Lab equipment

Formlabs 3 Resin 3D Printer

The Formlabs machine is a 3D resin printer that uses an advanced form of Stereolithography called Low Force Stereolithography. It uses a flexible tank and linear illumination to turn liquid resin into flawless prints. These printers are used for the ISEE 741 3D Printing Class.

Markfoged Onyx 3D Printer

The Markforged machine is an advanced FFF desktop 3D printer. It produces parts made from the material Onyx, which is a composite material that has high strength, toughness, and chemical resistance. The material can also be reinforced with continuous fibers to yield aluminum-strength parts. These printers are used for the ISEE 741 3D Printing Class.

Bambu X1 Carbon

The Bambu X1 is a straightforward 3D printer that is designed for speed without compromising quality of prints. It features an advanced micro Lidar system which enhances the machine’s precision. The printer’s thermal control allows printing of more types of materials. These printers are used for the ISEE 741 3D Printing Class.
