Hybrid DED Machine

Research:

Their research focus is the advancement of metal additive manufacturing via directed energy deposition (DED). By utilizing both additive and subtractive processes we are able to repair metal parts that have broken or were produced with defects, this reduces manufacturing waste and minimizes carbon emissions. By investigating various process parameters we are able to improve the mechanical performance of both as-printed and remanufactured parts.

ElemX Xerox

Research:

The ElemX is a liquid metal jet printer (LMJP) that uses the principle of magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) to jet aluminum droplets for additive manufacturing of end-use components with minimal post-processing. Our current research studies manufactured components' microstructure and mechanical performance for potential use in high-demand industrial, automotive, and aerospace applications.
