Dr. Cecilia (Cissi) Alm (Ph.D., UIUC) directs the CLaSP Lab. Her research interests are in AI and machine learning involving text, speech, ASL, and multimodal dialogue processing, human-AI teaming, dialogue modeling in human-robot interaction, affective AI, and interactive and other machine learning frameworks that center humans in AI. She is committed to enabling student research training experiences. Cissi is the joint program director for the MS in Artificial Intelligence, the director of the Center for Human-aware AI, PI for the NSF-funded AWARE-AI program and its extension NRT+ with partners at other US institutions, PI for the NSF-funded IRES AI-PROWIL program, the PI at RIT for a collaborative NSF EAGER award, and Subaward PI and RIT team lead for Universal-AI, a collaboration with Gallaudet University. She is also the Co-PI for the NSF-funded REU Site: Computational Sensing for Human-centered AI.
