Metaproject 02

In the fall of 2011, a partnership was forged with the world-renowned Corning Museum of Glass (CMoG). Moving the nature of the Metaproject to a new level, industrial design students are working together with RIT glass program students to explore design concepts that take advantage of glass as the primary material. RIT Glass faculty members Michael Rogers and Robin Cass have developed the content together with Owen and CMoG. The course results will be juried and then shown during design week in New York City in May of 2012. RIT will publish a case study book which chronicles the methodology and output from the course, shedding light on the design process. The “Design is One” philosophy exposed by the Vignelli Center for Design Studies will be overlaid into the conversation, linking the work thematically to the Vignelli Center.
