Commencement 2011

Published May 16, 2011

Spring is a special time of year for RIT students as the university recognizes and celebrates the hard work that brought these talented individuals to this exciting moment in their academic careers.

Commencement weekend consists of two ceremonies. At the Academic Convocation on Friday, May 20, the university recognizes the accomplishments of our graduates from all eight colleges by officially conferring degrees. During Convocation, Brian L. Hinman will deliver the 2011 Commencement Address. Hinman is a venture partner at Oak Investment Partners, executive chairman of GreenVolts, Inc., and executive chairman of Aurora Algae, Inc. He is the co-founder and former president and CEO of 2Wire, a provider of broadband service platforms for the DSL market. He is also the co-founder and former CEO of Polycom, Inc., the world’s leading teleconferencing company.

Convocation is also a time for RIT to acknowledge our outstanding educators and students graduating with honors. By recognizing the excellence of our faculty and students, we spotlight RIT tradition, university pride and community spirit.
