Scheduling an Appointment at the Writing Commons
The Writing Commons is currently operating as an online-only tutoring space. We closed for the summer on Tuesday, May 5th and will reopen either online or in-person for Fall 2020.
Hours of operation:
The Writing Commons is currently closed. There are asynchronous writing resources available in the Online Writing Commons tab.
In order to see the weekly schedule and book appointments, please visit https://rit.mywconline.com. If you are a first time user, you must register in order to start scheduling appointments.
If an appointment is available, the block will be white. Dark blue blocks indicate already booked appointments.
Appointments per week: Appointments are offered in 60-minute blocks. To accommodate demand, students are allowed up to 60 minutes, or a 1-hour appointment per day, and 120 minutes, or two 1-hour appointments per week. To make the most of your experience, reserve appointments several days in advance as the schedules fill with appointments quickly.
Wait Lists: If the online schedule is full, put yourself on the waiting list by clicking on the clock icon next to the day you wish to make an appointment. If there is a cancellation, you will be notified via email.
Walk-in Policy: Students are welcome to visit the Writing Commons during open hours to schedule an appointment or meet with an available consultant. If a consultant is not working with a student with a scheduled appointment, walk-ins will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
Late policy: When you make an appointment, that block of time is yours. Out of courtesy for our consultants and other students, please arrive on time. If you are more than 10 minutes late to your appointment, that meeting time will be reassigned to a student on the waiting list or waiting for a walk-in session.
Cancellations: We ask that you respect the high demand for appointments and cancel any reserved appointments you’re not able to attend 24 hours in advance. To cancel your appointment online, log in to WCOnline, select your appointment, and click “Cancel This Appointment.” Students who miss two appointments in a semester without advance notice will no longer be able to make an appointment online for the rest of that term. Two “missed” appointments on an account within a semester will prompt our online scheduling system to disable your account.
