In this episode, we speak with Professor Hye-Jin Nae, an award-winning associate professor and researcher in the College of Art and Design. She is a leading UI/UX design expert, renowned for creating cutting-edge design solutions across a wide range of product spaces. She is an Eisenhart Award winner for Outstanding Teaching, a recipient of the Norman A. Miles Award for Academic Excellence in Teaching, and a mentor of the Community Impact Award at RIT.
Before joining RIT, Hye-Jin Nae held positions as Creative Director and Lead Experience Architect at EffectiveUI, Lead Designer at Yahoo!, and Senior Visual Interaction Designer at Kodak. From leading design at Yahoo and Kodak to collaborating as a PI on federally funded research projects with the Department of Homeland Security and the National Institutes of Health (NIH), she exemplifies how design can bridge technology, creativity, and social impact.
Her professional work has earned her multiple prestigious national and international awards, such as the Oscars of the internet- Webby awards, iF Communication Awards, and Communication Arts Design Awards, among a score of others. She serves as a judge for international design awards, including Anthem Awards, W3 Awards, Communicator Awards, and Davey Awards.
