Research Team Members

Timothy Bauch, Ryan Ford

Project Description

Professor Vodacek is the GRSS ad hoc liaison for sub-Saharan Africa. To support the development of a greater GRSS presence on the African continent the society has been supporting training activities to foster interest in new members. Professor Vodacek worked with GRSS and the African Center of Excellence for Internet of Things at the University of Rwanda to create and deliver a drone remote sensing workshop.

Project Status:

Professor Vodacek, senior lab engineer Timothy Bauch, and Ph.D. student Ryan Ford put together the drone training workshop and delivered it over a 5-day period in November 2018. The workshop covered basic drone piloting, flight planning, introduction to remote sensing from drones, and signals analysis. Another workshop is in the planning stages and to more specifically cover sensor integration for drone systems.
