Tahrir is a Ph.D. candidate in Imaging Science at the Rochester Institute of Technology. He is currently a Graduate Research Assistant working on a NASA Earth Science Technology Office (ESTO)–funded project under the supervision of Dr. Jan van Aardt. His research focuses on developing data-driven methods for extracting ecologically meaningful information from airborne and spaceborne LiDAR in support of next-generation Earth observation systems. His work spans image processing, remote sensing, computer vision, and applied machine learning, with a particular emphasis on large-scale monitoring and analysis of forest ecosystems using multimodal remote sensing data.
