Forms and Standard Agreements

Have a Patentable Idea?

If you developed a novel solution to a technical problem, you need to disclose it using the RIT Invention Disclosure Form. It will be used to start the patenting decision process, and for required notifications of arising inventions to sponsors and funding agencies.

An electronic copy of the invention disclosure must be submitted to James Eilertsen, Director of the Intellectual Property Management Office.

License Agreements

RIT’s exclusive license option agreement is an agreement that gives a potential licensee the exclusive right to evaluate RIT intellectual property for commercial exploitation prior to engaging in licensing negotiations with RIT. The evaluation period is 12 months but can be extended to 24 months. This agreement is available to startups founded by at least one RIT faculty, staff, or student.
