Have a Patentable Idea?
If you developed a novel solution to a technical problem, you need to disclose it using the RIT Invention Disclosure Form. It will be used to start the patenting decision process, and for required notifications of arising inventions to sponsors and funding agencies.
An electronic copy of the invention disclosure must be submitted to James Eilertsen, Director of the Intellectual Property Management Office.
Express License Agreements
RIT’s exclusive license option permits startups with at least one RIT founder (faculty, staff, student, or alumnus) to evaluate RIT intellectual property for commercial use prior to licensing negotiations. The agreement offers a 12-month (extendable) evaluation period and requires a $2000 option fee. However, this option fee will be waived if one founder completes I-Corp training prior to execution of this agreement.
