Pronouns: He/Him/His

Hey everyone! My name is Sammy, and I am a sophomore majoring in biomedical sciences! I am passionate about unearthing and resolving student issues — I have written and edited for Reporter, RIT’s student-run magazine, since the start of freshman year! You may also recognize me as your Biology LA and/or Chemistry SI (come to my sessions)! Outside of classes, I enjoy playing basketball with my intramural team, doing research in my lab, and volunteering.

Platform

My primary goal is to increase the sense of community within CHST! As one of the newest — and smallest — colleges at the university, it is vital that students have the proper network and resources to launch their careers. There are so many great fields within healthcare, and RIT alumni find jobs in essentially all of them! Because of that, I want to increase CHST’s representation at the Career Fair and organize regular alumni-led informational sessions on opportunities available in medicine and beyond. This will entail talking with company recruiters, as well as Career Fair organizers and other SG members. Of course, improving the community extends beyond jobs! I would also like CHST students to have better amenities during their time on campus. For instance, SG is heavily involved in funding the hundreds of clubs at the university. Given how small CHST is compared to other colleges, I believe that my voice will be valuable in advocating for fundraising efforts! I also want to develop better study spaces — including CHST-exclusive lounges and help centers — for students to use, as well as advocate for major-specific and Honors trips for our college! Above all, I am open to suggestions from everyone! I am ultimately here to represent you and your beliefs. I am always very communicative via email and approachable in person, so, if I am elected, I will be there for you!
