Bio Aamir

Hello! I’m Aamir Sohail, a Computer Engineering Honors student running for Global Union President. My time at RIT has been all about connecting people and creating spaces where every student feels at home. When I started the Pakistani Student Society (PSA) as its Founding President, my goal wasn't just to make another club. I wanted to build real, meaningful friendships and bring different cultural groups together.

That desire to build a united campus goes far beyond my work with PSA. Whether it was helping raise $15,000 for global relief as Event Manager for the Muslim Student Association or setting up career events for the Multicultural Business Association, I love helping students succeed. Balancing these roles with being a Resident Advisor, working as a Data Engineer Co-op at Wegmans, and finishing RIT’s Momentum and MOCHA leadership programs has taught me how to turn big ideas into actual results. I am running to bring that exact same energy and practical support to the Global Union.

Bio Sami

Hey! I’m Sami Elboukhari, a second-year Electrical Engineering student running for Global Union Vice President. My time at RIT has been focused on building strong, welcoming communities for everyone. Serving as the Vice President for both the Muslim Student Association and the Association of the Middle East and North Africa has shown me how important it is to have spaces where students can celebrate their backgrounds. My goal in these roles has always been to bring people together and make sure every student feels heard.

That passion for supporting my peers extends into my everyday life on campus. Whether I am guiding students as a Resident Advisor or diving into complex problems as a Student Researcher, I love finding practical ways to help others succeed. Balancing my engineering coursework with these commitments has taught me how to stay organized and turn big goals into real results. I am excited to bring this hands-on experience to the Global Union and work alongside Aamir to make sure every cultural club gets the resources they need to thrive.

Platform

The Global Union is a huge part of RIT, but too often, our incredible cultural clubs end up operating entirely on their own. As someone who built a student organization from the ground up, I know how hard it is to get started, but I also know the huge payoff of teamwork. For example, I helped co-organize the "Desi Mela" fair by bringing five different campus groups together. My goal for the Global Union is to make it a place that actively helps clubs grow and connect with each other.

To really bring our campus together, we need to step outside our own circles. I want to plan more joint events and mixers for club executive boards. If we combine our ideas and budgets, we can turn regular club events into massive, campus-wide celebrations that truly show off RIT's diversity.

We also need to make running a club easier so leaders can focus on their members, not just paperwork. Using what I learned on the KGCOE and CLCE Marketing Advisory councils, I want to create a "Leadership Toolkit" for GU clubs. This would be a central guide to help make funding requests, room bookings, and marketing much simpler, giving clubs the actual support they need to succeed.

Finally, our diverse backgrounds are a huge advantage for our careers. Based on my past success running career panels with companies like Honeywell and M&T Bank, I want to build a direct connection between GU clubs and RIT Career Services. We can host networking events and alumni panels specifically meant to help underrepresented students land great jobs.

Through completing RIT’s Momentum track and Dale Carnegie training, I've learned that being a leader means serving others. I am committed to being someone who genuinely supports and fights for your club's success.
