Platform

The women of RIT are of the strongest, most incredible people in the world. Advocating for these ambitious leaders of tomorrow, I hope to improve upon the accessibility of feminine hygiene products in every restroom and the inclusivity of the Weidman Fitness Center. It has been communicated among many women across campus that many restrooms have maxi-pads available, but some colleges simply do not have these products, or they are in subpar condition. Collaborating with campus Health and Wellness, I hope to lead the charge in improving upon this issue. Furthermore, the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Resource Center (WGSRC) located in the Campus Center is quite underused. The people working at the WGSRC are dedicated to improving and advocating for both mental and physical health. Many women on campus would benefit from this resource and I would love to see their outreach increase. As a woman myself, I find the predominantly male presence in the gym has influenced my desire to work out, leaving only the small gym in the tunnels available. This is a complex dilemma and I would love to hear your voice on this matter in order to find the best solution. Currently, I would suggest setting aside a certain amount of time for a Women's Only session. RIT is wonderful in their overall care for their female students, but improvement is always an uphill climb and change will only be possible when women feel safe enough to speak on their ideas. Let me listen and advocate for you! I aspire to make RIT the safest, most accessible and empowering place for incoming women and our current women. Being a woman is beautiful. Being a woman is power.
