SCB Senator
Bio
Hi, I'm Amina! I'm a Global Business Management major with a minor in Management Information Systems, and I'm running to be your Saunders College of Business Senator because I believe every student deserves accessible pathways to success—both academically and professionally.
Since arriving at RIT, I've actively pursued opportunities to grow and give back. As a Supplemental Instruction Leader, I support students navigating challenging coursework, creating spaces where asking for help is celebrated. Through Momentum 1, I've developed my leadership skills and learned how to mobilize students toward shared goals.
These experiences taught me that students thrive when they have access to resources, mentorship, and strong connections with faculty and peers. As your senator, I want to strengthen the bridges between students, faculty, and career services—ensuring that professional development feels accessible, not overwhelming, and that your voice is heard in decisions that affect your Saunders experience.
I'm running because I know what it's like to navigate RIT as a student figuring things out, and I want to make that journey easier for all of us.

WHY I'M RUNNING
I'm running for SCB Senator because Saunders students deserve stronger faculty connections, a real sense of community, and support that goes beyond just career prep. Success shouldn't depend on already knowing how to navigate the system—it should be accessible to everyone.
BUILDING COMMUNITY BEYOND THE CLASSROOM
Some of the best connections happen outside classrooms—but right now, Saunders students don't have enough opportunities to meet peers in relaxed settings. I will advocate for:
Department social events – Casual coffee meetups, study breaks, or game nights where students connect without networking pressure.
Cross-year connections – Opportunities for freshmen through seniors to meet informally, so upperclassmen can share advice and younger students build networks early.
Building community makes Saunders less isolating and creates natural support systems.
STRENGTHENING STUDENT–FACULTY COMMUNICATION
Students often feel disconnected from faculty outside the classroom. I will push for peer-to-faculty networking events—informal meetups where students build relationships with professors in low-pressure settings. When students feel comfortable reaching out, they gain mentors who open doors to research, internships, and career advice.
SUPPORTING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND HOLISTIC WELL-BEING
Career readiness shouldn't feel overwhelming, and success requires personal balance. I will support:
Peer-led workshops on résumés, interviews, and LinkedIn from students who've successfully navigated internships
Networking preparation resources and practice opportunities before career fairs
Spiritual and reflection spaces respecting all faith traditions—students need quiet spaces to recharge alongside academic demands
Every student, regardless of background or faith, should feel equipped to pursue their goals with both professional skills and personal balance.
WHY ME?
I know what it's like to navigate RIT while still figuring things out, to feel overwhelmed by career expectations, and to wonder if I'm doing enough. Through my experiences supporting other students and getting involved on campus, I've seen how the right support at the right time can completely change someone's trajectory. I want to make sure that support is available to everyone, not just those who already know where to look.
I'm not running with all the answers—I'm running to listen, advocate, and work alongside you to make Saunders a place where every student has access to the resources and connections they need to thrive.
Let's build a Saunders that works for all of us.
