Bio

My name is Brendan Gell, I am a 3rd year Mechanical Engineering major. I am an active member of the RIT Racing Formula SAE team and greatly appreciate all that I have been able to experience as part of a performance team. Outside of campus activities, I enjoy spending time outdoors and am also a passionate reader.

Many students are struggling to secure employment, and I believe the root issue is a growing disconnect between employers and job‑seeking students. RIT offers tremendous career resources, yet these services don’t always reach or effectively support the increasing number of applicants who feel overwhelmed or underprepared. My goal is to help create an environment where students can confidently demonstrate their skills and achievements before approaching employers, without the fear of failure that often discourages them.

Improving communication and expectations between students, RIT’s career services, and employers would remove many of the barriers students face during the job search process. By clarifying what employers are truly looking for and ensuring students understand how to present themselves effectively, we can make the process more transparent, equitable, and successful.

Beyond addressing these systemic issues, I’m also committed to listening to the KGCOE student body and advocating for the concerns they choose to raise. Strengthening this dialogue is essential to ensuring that every student feels supported as they prepare for their careers.
