COS Senator

Hi everyone! My name is Juliana Foster, and I am a third-year Biotechnology and Molecular Bioscience student with a minor in Forensic Clinical Psychology. I am from a small town outside of Albany, NY. If given the opportunity, I would absolutely love to be your next COS Senator!

I have strong leadership experience due to my heavy involvement in Greek Life. I have served as both the Vice President of Recruitment and the President of the College Panhellenic Council. These roles have provided me with valuable experience, and I would love to apply what I have learned to this position.

Outside of my leadership roles, I am also involved in multiple COS clubs and have helped out during many Open Houses, helping incoming COS students feel comfortable and informed. I also love being involved in volunteer work, including spending my Spring Break participating in RIT’s Alternative Break.

If elected as your COS Senator, my first step would be to gather feedback directly from the general student body. Your voices matter most, and I want to hear what you would like to see within the College of Science.

One area I am very passionate about is increasing the visibility of opportunities that are available to COS students. From conversations I’ve had over the years, many students feel they have fewer opportunities compared to those in other colleges across campus. In order to confront this, I would love to introduce a monthly newsletter that highlights any upcoming events, club meetings, and STEM-related opportunities available at RIT. This would include scholarships, fellowships, internship opportunities, and more! I would also like to work with the COS staff to create stronger networking opportunities that support students both during their time in college and as they prepare for graduation. One idea I would love to implement is a career fair–style event focused on research opportunities and jobs within the College of Science.

Additionally, I hope to host events with existing COS clubs and organizations. By working together, we can better promote these groups, increase turnout at meetings, expand involvement opportunities, and build a stronger sense of community within the College of Science.

Overall, I am here to support you as students and to advocate for what you want and need. I would love to help create a stronger sense of community within majors, between students and staff, and throughout the College of Science as a whole.
