Bio Mobassirul

Hi everyone! My name is Mobassirul Karim Faraz, and I’m a third-year Mechanical Engineering student at RIT. I currently serve as the Vice President of Global Union under RIT Student Government, where I help lead initiatives that support and represent international students on campus. I strongly advocate for every culture, religion, and identity making sure that every student, no matter their background, feels seen, respected, and valued. Through Global Union, we organize a wide range of cultural celebrations, social events, and professional development programs to help students feel welcome and truly at home at RIT.

Outside of Global Union, I work as an Audio Visual Technician with Classroom Technology Operations and stay involved in hands-on engineering projects and RIT F1 Racing. I love bringing people together just as much as I love solving technical problems. Whether it’s planning a large-scale campus event or collaborating on an engineering challenge, I thrive in spaces where ideas, cultures, and passions intersect. If you see me around campus, come say hi I’m always excited to meet new people and build new connections!

Bio Sadia

Helloo! I’m Sadia, a junior majoring in New Media Interactive Development, and being involved on campus has always been a meaningful part of my college experience. I serve as Co-President of BrickHack, where we host an annual hackathon that brings together 200+ students to collaborate and build projects in a supportive environment. Planning large-scale events has shown me how powerful student communities can be when people feel welcomed and encouraged to participate. I also work with RIT University Advancement, where I’ve seen the importance of building strong, lasting connections within the university community. While attending Global Union events, what truly stood out to me was the energy, inclusivity, and genuine sense of belonging they created for students from all backgrounds. That experience is exactly why I want to serve as Vice President for Global Union, to build on that foundation, elevate its impact, and work intentionally to make GU even stronger, more inclusive, and more connected for every student it represents.

Platform

Global Union is not just a student organization it is the home for every international student at RIT. This year, we are building something bigger: a Global Union that is united, bold, and impossible to ignore.

Beyond the RIT Bubble

International students deserve to experience Rochester, not just campus. We will expand off-campus programming, from cultural outings and food tours to seasonal city experiences, so students can build memories, connections, and confidence beyond RIT.

Culture Without Borders

We will proudly expand culturally specific celebrations, including larger Desi events and programming that allows communities to fully express their heritage. Similarly, we will host collaborative, large-scale events uniting multiple affiliates for a shared purpose. When cultures come together, we don’t just celebrate diversity, we strengthen it.

Community That Lasts

One-time events are not enough. We will prioritize recurring gatherings that build real friendships, consistent support systems, and year-round engagement.

Professional Power for International Students

From navigating visas to finding internships, international students face unique challenges. We will expand targeted career workshops, alumni networking, and employer engagement to ensure our community thrives socially and professionally.

The Return of Unification

We are bringing back Unification not just as an event, but as a statement. A statement that every culture, every religion, and every identity belongs here. A statement that the Global Union stands for unity, advocacy, and pride.

This year, we are not just planning events. We are building a movement. A movement where cultures connect. Where students feel seen. Where Global Union becomes the strongest voice for international students at RIT.
