Bio

Hello!

My name is Anne Ford and I am a first-year Painting major. My experience back home ranges from being the captain of my robotics team, a student visionary for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and the president of our LGBTQ+ student affinity group. Here in Rochester, I dedicate my time towards The Hunger Project, St. John’s Meadows, and The CLCE.

In my free time, I go to a variety of campus events with my friends. When I am home in Richmond, Virginia, I love to try new food and explore the downtown area. I compete in pageants where I have sung in front of hundreds of people! I am super extroverted, so don’t be afraid to say hi or get coffee with me!

I am thrilled for the opportunity to represent CAD this coming school year!

Platform

I chose to study painting at RIT because of one thing; passion. My passion for the arts does not stem from watching films or visiting museums. Instead, it comes from the community that inspires me to learn. I have seen how CAD unifies with projects like The Charrette, and also how we take the time to learn from our peers and professors. Experiencing what our college already is has motivated me to bring us into a new era of growth, pride, and service.

As CAD Senator I will advocate for two main projects. The first will focus on the community inside CAD. I will pioneer a project to create more art displays around campus and decorate our brick walls with student-made banners. In conjunction with banners, we will explore the concept of functional art and how it can shift the spaces of RIT. This initiative will allow for collaboration to blossom within the specialties of CAD. Additionally, it will garner interest for prospective students and increase the quality of life with improved visual aesthetics.

My second proposal is to uplift the community outside of CAD. I plan to lead generous service opportunities to give back to the Rochester area. Starting with curating art for neighbors in need, then hopefully moving to larger projects like murals or videos to be in public areas. I hope that as we work on our own community, we will inspire the people of Rochester to come together and recognize how much of a role art and design plays in their lives. With our skills in collaboration, and our ever growing CAD student body, we can represent RIT as a vibrant, philanthropic collective.

CAD has a voice. Now it is time to make noise.
